January!

Happy New Year all...

I can't wait to start my next crafty project... don't know what it will be as of yet, but I'm reaching a point where I need to do SOMETHING. My sewing machine is just sitting there, taunting me!!

Here's to a very craft filled 2007!

So little Time

I've been so incredibly busy since returning from my trip, that I haven' t had time to even pause to post on my blog, sew, knit, garden or even do Christmas shopping. I'm so sorry about that! Please bare with me, and I promise to post soon...I'll leave you with a shot from Paris.

Paris on Thanksgiving

A damp, chilly, yet perfect day in Paris. Taken this morning from a window in The Louvre.

Packed and Ready To Go

Ok, that actually isn't true...I'm not packed and ready to go. But I DO leave tomorrow for two weeks in England and a few days in Paris.

I will be back in a few....

Last Minute Gift

November! Wow. Where, seriously, has time gone! I leave for England in less than 10 days. Am I at all prepared? That would be a resounding "NO!" It's not like I've never travelled before....but with all of the recent scares, What are the latest TSA rules? Must remember to look that up! I'm hoping that knitting needles are on the 'yes' list! What about lip gloss...a girl can't travel without her lip gloss! Oh, and I mustn't forget to take in my dry cleaning. I always forget to do that leading up to a trip.

I can't wait to get away. Work has been so draining, and this vacation is much needed. And I'm so excited about my side trip this year....Paris! I can't wait to share my experiences at the Marche aux Puces with you! Not to mention the Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, Notre Dame, the list goes on....

For now, however, back to the present...I decided quite a while ago that I wanted to put together a little quilt for Isabella. Now, I know that I have other little things for her, but I wanted to round out the Bunny with another handmade gift...so, with a 50% Joann's coupon in hand I picked up one of those pre-packed cuddly quilt kits. Cheesy, I know. But at $10... It was cheaper than buying the fabric separately! On Friday evening...I planted myself at the kitchen table and set about putting this little gal together...

And before long, she was completed in all her fluffy, cuddly glory!

Originally, I had hoped to have Marisa's help (and the aid of her wonderful machine) to embroider Isabella's name on the blanket, but like I mentioned, time was quickly running out, so I had to forego that idea...but I'm still really pleased with the result. The quilt is soft and tactile, yet not so heavy that it is impractical. And the best part, it was another fun, quick and satisfying project.

How Could I have Forgotten?

I completely forgot to mention that my dear friend Nicola had her baby on Sunday, October 8th!

Introducing...

Isabella

Isabella Madeline! Isn't she lovely?!  I'm so thrilled for Nic! And I'm really looking forward to meeting little Isabella in a few weeks! Oh, and I guess this means that I'll be making a Dress for Bunny!

Sparkle and Dream

I've found a new love to contribute to my already magpie obsession with sparkle! Wendy Addison and her truly lovely decorations are really up my alley! After countless hours of clicking and re-clicking on some of her items on various websites, I knew I was hooked. Locally, Roger's Gardens stocks her holiday collection in their shop, so I recently snuck there while on lunch and was overwhelmed by all the glitter and sparkle!

Is it a complete shock to say that I didn't walk away empty handed?! I loved the large Dream Garland, but the letters were an enormous 14 inches! So, I decided to pick up the "Winter Dreams" Garland, remove the "S" from Dreams, and hang the Dream portion over my bed with a complimentary star garland. I'll save the Winter part for December, and hang it above the fire place.

Ignore the foul blinds, I've had the intention of covering the window with a curtain for quite sometime now, but alas, have yet to work on that project!!

Look at the sparkle....

When the sun shines in through the window in the morning the light plays off the wall in the most lovely way!

Part of Last Weekend's Sewing

Last weekend was actually a free weekend for me. Trust me, this is a complete miracle! At this time of year, my work is extremely busy—its walk season, so time away from the office is a complete treat!

Saturday was spent with my Mom and roommate in Oak Glen (just outside of Yuccipa)—savoring the cooler and slightly damp weather, while sampling delicious apples. Breakfast at Law’s restaurant and apple cider from Snowline Orchards is a great way to spend a weekend morning! If you are in the Southern California area, and want to spend some time amongst the apple orchards, head to Oak Glen.

Sunday, my first at home in a while, was spent sewing. One of the end products is this little bag:

I used Simplicity pattern 4535 and my left over scraps of Amy Butler fabric from my Covington bag. I really like how this project turned out! Thank you, Marisa, for the suggestion of this pattern!

Look What I Bought!

I'm so excited with my latest purchase...

Imgp0930

A folding cutting table! After using Marisa's on our girlie craft day, I knew that I had to get one. And guess what was on sale at Joann's this past week?! It was meant to be...so, off I went to my local superstore (love that place) to pick one up.

Imgp0931

I've been beyond busy with work over the last few weeks (we had the first of our two Walks yesterday), and so I was only just able to put the table together tonight. And, of course, I had to put it to immediate use.

The project you see is destined to become a pair of comfy PJ Bottoms!
